Student Council
Meeting Times: Every other Thursday Beginning October 4, 2007
Are you a leader? Do you like planning school events? Do you have ideas to share? Are you organized and responsible? Student Council’s goal is to provide opportunities for students that promote and encourage leadership qualities. Leadership is demonstrated through community outreach projects and school services. If you like to make a difference, look to student council.
Book Club
Meeting Times: TBA
Students will get together to do book talks and share their thoughts about the books they read. This is just the club for those who love to read and talk. Meeting times TBA.
Chess and Board Games Club
Meeting Times: This club meets on Tuesdays from 3:10-4:00
Did you know that chess is played in every country in the world? Come join us after school to play or to learn. If you’ve never played before, we can teach you. This club meets once per week after school until 4:00
Fiddle Club
Meeting Times: Tuesdays until 3:45 p.m
The Fiddle Club is open to all Dyer orchestra members who are interested in rehearsing authentic fiddle music. The Fiddle Club consists of violins, cellos, and basses. We learn fun techniques, which are performed at special concerts throughout the school year.
Newspaper Club
Meeting Times: Thursdays 3:05-4:00
This club provides students with opportunities for creative writing, proofreading, cartooning, and other illustrated writing. Various aspects of writing for a newspaper are incorporated into the club, such as interviewing, conducting surveys, and drawing conclusions from data. Individual creativity is highly encouraged!
Outdoor Skills Club
Meeting Times: This club meets at various times throughout the year. Check the board outside of Mr. Tonn's room for more information.
This club devotes time to learning about and doing activities that take place outdoors. Fishing, trapping, hunting, forestry, hiking, conservation, wildlife, and plant identification will be covered. Meetings will take place on various nights throughout the school year. Parents and chaperones are sometimes needed.
Girls Basketball

This club focuses on building skills and encouraging an appreciation and love for the game. There are no outside games and all games are strictly intramural.

Garden Club
Meeting Times: TBA
We will
work to build a garden at Dyer. The goals are:
(1) Build and maintain a vegetable garden that the community can
use throughout the summer and fall, (2) Create a space that can be
used with the 5th
and 6th grade
curricula
(3) Beautify our Dyer home.
Scrapbooking Club
Meeting Times: Tuesdays at 3:05-4:00 pm
Come and explore the world of
scrapbooking with this group. We will dabble with some basic
photography, basic scrapbooking, and learn a lot of really fun ways
to scrapbook your memories.
Dance Club

Wednesdays: 3:05 to 4:00 p.m
So, you like to dance? This is the club for you, then! A dance club
that combines traditional dance moves with a little hip hop. It
doesn’t matter if you know how to dance or if you’re willing to
learn. Just show up ready to move, groove, and have
fun!
Financial Planning Club

club, we will learn about jobs and money. We will demonstrate how
people pay taxes, spend, and save money. We will learn how to set a
budget and how to follow it! There will be some online
